Art is okay and everything, but when it’s inspired by love, that’s when I become a sucker. LA-based Daksh Sahni has collaborated with his fiance, Simone Alexandrino, to translate his partner’s 2D drawings into 3D sculptures enabled by 3D printing — via a service provided by California’s Solid Concepts. At Hinge Modern, just steps away from Crash Space in Culver City, Daksh and Simone are displaying a series of pieces that includes an ornately beautiful, 3D printed lamp. Using his 3D modeling experience as an architect and interactive game designer, Daksh was able to convert his fiance’s continuous line, digitized from Simone’s work, into a 3D model.
