Things3D has already begun taking the lead in 3D printed marketing, creating a series of 3D printable characters from Aardman Studios and working to create 3D printable tie-ins to video games. Their Ownerchip technology allows customers to register their ownership with the 3D printed figurines and opens the doors to a variety of potential smartphone or tablet apps that can be used with their products.
